Just had a call from parents

Wanting there daughter to start with me but they dont have a definate start date for contract to start as mum i still waiting for phone call to start work.

They want daughter to start settling in period on Tuesday for an hour as when mum does get the call from work it will be to start immediately.

Ive added a letter with contract stating that i wont be signing contract until i have a definate start date but i need it signed off them before i will do settling in period and until i get this date the place cannot be guarenteed.

Does this sound a bit harsh or not.

i'd take a 4 week deposit if they can't give you a start date and say that if she's not started in x number of days they'll have to pay anyway.

I would ask for a deposit which would be off first fees when due and also charge for the settling in periods and therefore sign a contract with note on it saying start date to be confirmed.
