My dad is self employed so he has told me this, not sure if its right , but im sure someone will confirm! I am having to put my wages/expenses etc through on the next tax year.

so if you started in Jan 08 - April 08, this has to be tax returned before the deadline for april 09

so I have another year yet!! then if i am right the money earnt etc from April 08 - April 09 will be tax returned for the tax year April 2010

!!! pls correct me if I am wrong!! x x

If you work between now and this April 2008, then everything has to go through on this tax year as this is when it has been earned / spent.

If you start work after beginning of April 2008, then it will go through on next tax year, as that is when you will be classed as working.

You do not have to inform tax office you are self employed until you are earning money. When a friend tried to register because she had got her registration grant (ie. what she thought was income from childminding) they wouldn't let her, because they said she wasn't earning!

    Hope that makes sense
