german for childminder

the german word for childminder is Tagesmutter

Tag means day
Mutter means Mother

I like it as to me it really emphasises that the children will be in a nice loving home...

(need to find out what they call male childminders)

I am already impressed with all your knowledge of the geman language.

I actually just found out that in austria childminders have a choice of either being self employed or they can work in full employment for a childminding ''company'' (company is the wrong word but not sure what else to use instead)
if they choose to work as employed cm's they have all the benefits of sick pay, pension etc etc and don't have to do their own accounts. but then they can't decide what to charge as all these things are set by the ''company''

very interesting
