Australia day......how about a BBQ? lol. For chinese new year i usually do a stir fry with noodles.

Why not make a role play cafe for Chinese New Year.. write up proper menus like at the restaurant.
You could start with sweetcorn soup, then noodles or rice with favourite meat / veg and finish with oranges
Try making some Lamingtons - cakes covered in coconut - very Australian...
You could make this out of salt dough, rather than proper cooking and that way all the ages could join in and then you could have a dinner.
