    Default Registration Not Required

Just found this and thought it might be of interest.

    Ofsted registration not required leaflet

It lists all the times you do not need to be registered.

    Thanks for that, very interesting.

    No.1 is open to mis-interpretation:

You do not have to register with us if you:

    1. care for children who are aged eight years and over.

If a minder cares for children over 8 they might think that it applies to them even if they are also caring for under 8's! It ought to say ONLY care for children who are aged eight years and over.

No. 12 Scares me, You do not have to register with us if you:

care for children aged under eight for four hours or less each day, where the care is
for the convenience of parents who intend to remain on the premises where the
provision is or within its immediate locality. This type of provision has no long-term
commitment to provide care for children: for example, a shoppers crèche, a crèche
attached to a sports centre or adult learning centre, or an exhibition where children
    do not attend every day.

Does this mean that they won't be forced to CRB check their staff?

12 isn't referring to childminders Debbie, it is situations like a creche where parents stay on the premises.

Childminding is still 2 hours, that is number 2 .

I think the 2 hour rule is rubbish.

A child can be abused in 10 minutes let alone 2 hours.

I think the whole creche scenario is more scary as they could feasibly being helping children with personal care, unlike a soft play area.
