    Default EYFS inspection

One of my support buddies (as well as the childminder who takes my daughter to and from school for me) had her inspection yesterday. She's new so this was her first inspection (meant to be w/in 6 months though her's took a bit longer).

I was so happy for her as she got Good with a lot of Outstanding aspects. I've asked her precisely what inspector was hot on and she said:

-Planning - which we all expected but not just having written planning but being able to discuss and prove how you translate the written planning into reality and how it fits into your daily schedule

    - Observations - again, expected but inspector loved the obs forms so I was pleased considering they were ones I created and passed on

    - Partnership - not just with parents but with all settings, such as teachers , playgroups, nurseries, care workers, social workers, anyone who you come in contact with who works with and for the child or family. (in my case, I have taxis and escorts for 3 children plus a care worker for 1 of them on Wednesdays and I have noted them on my SEF because they're all a part of 'team around the child'

None of this comes as a surprise but just thought I'd give you the info I've gotten so far. The inspector was there for 4 hours and came along on nursery runs in the car with her (I told her to invite her along so she could see her in action with nursery staff )

There's a lot more but we didn't have time for an in-depth chat. I'm going to ring her later and jot down everything she can tell me regarding inspection. I'm just really pleased for her and even though she only has my dd for school runs, am very impressed with her professional attitude so I think she really deserved her grade.

My friend had her inspection and she got a Satisfactory. What she has told me it that the inspector was hot on

    Risk Assessment
Partnership with all aspects to do with the children (parents, school/other settings)
Evidence of Learning Journal with next steps (planning)

She was told that Ofsted have raised the barr on standards and given 6 months she would probably be given a good grading.

The inspector also told her that inspections are being carried out as normal according to when you are due.

Well done to your friend Tatia

    I should have added:

-SEF - inspector said it was the first completed SEF she had seen so far and was very impressed with it. I doubt you'll get much higher than Satisfactory without at least attempting to do it

    - Self-reflection/professional development - they want to see that you are honestly evaluating your setting. You could potentially get marked a higher grade for being honest about a deficiency that you are striving to correct than thinking you are perfect or hoping OFSTED doesn't notice This is why the SEF is so invaluable, it really forces you to consider all aspects of your setting

Your friend's sounds similar, then, same sort of hot buttons to be aware of.
