    Default Vegetarian meals

I have got a 10 month old starting next week and he is a vegetarian, no meat or fish at all. Mum says she is happy for me to provide lunch (as agreed in the contract) and she has advised that baby likes all vegetables and pasta, beans, pasta shapes etc.

I am about to put together a four weekly meal planner for mum to review in advance and advise if she is not happy about any of the meals etc. So far, I have got vegetarian shepherd's pie and vegetarian spag bol....after that I am stuck. I will only need to provide lunch three times per week but I cannot think of anything else to make.

My SD is vegetarian but she eats fish so it's pretty easy to create meals for her but finding it difficult for this mindee who does not eat it. Mum has not said whether or not they eat cheese, eggs or drink milk so will need to check.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks Angel. He was here for a settling in session yesterday morning and he is absolutely adorable. I am really looking forward to him being here full time.

I don't want to put a spanner in the works here but I was told at my inspection that childminders are not allowed to provide meals for under ones, all food must come from the parents apparently.

Maybe I have been misinformed by my inspector but perhaps it would be worth checking with Ofsted just to be sure?

Once he turns one year old though you can use quorn mince to make anything you'd out normal mince in, eg shepherds pie, spag bol, lasagne etc etc.

then there's stuff like macaroni cheese, pasta in tomato sauce etc

Quorn also make tons of veggie versions of stuff like burgers chicken nuggets etc if the parents are happy for him to have that sort of thing. We use them whenever the boys go to cookouts etc with scouts or bbq's at friend's houses because it like 'normal' food so there's no huge 'thing' that we are vegetarians.

    Hope that helps

Not heard of that one, my pre reg inspector asked me a) how I would store packed lunches and b) what sort of meals and snacks I might be offering

i make a gorgeous veggie curry - its really mild and its one of the few homemade meals my 18 m/o will eat when i mash it all up. if you want the recipe i'll write it out for you. (i say i make it but its actually ainsley harriotts sisters recipe who teaches my hubbys kids at school! )
