Just a heads up as my DS had a very scary incident with magnets - specifically 'Neo cube' magnets
At 10 years old, you'd have thought he knew better, but apparently not
Following a visit to his Dad's, where these stupid things came from, he used 2 of these ultra strong magnets to make it look like he had a lip piercing, as a laugh, as he knew how I'd react...
When he tried separating them, the front one shot out of his fingers, into his mouth, and took the other one with it as it shot down his throat....cue trip to hospital.
Hospital had to contact a specialist in London as there had been a high alert with these particular ones.
Basically, because they are so strong, if they are swallowed separately, as they travel along the gut, they can attract each other through bodily linings...
They have also been known to shoot out of the body when they come into close contact with something metal....!
It was a very scary time I can tell you, with lots of curries, additional hospital potions to loosen him up, and daily xrays to track progress.
After 3 days of them not moving, it was decided that they were going to operate, however thankfully, the morning of his admittance, they came out together
They are fascinating to play with, and some of the videos of the creations made with them are stunning, but, from a distance
I'm not suggesting for one minute you'd allow a LO to play with magnets unsupervised btw, but I do know of parents with young children (3+) that bought Neo Cubes as Christmas presents, thinking they'd be 'safer' as they are really hard to separate when they're in a clump together...
