Half an hour into the new term and we've already had a 4 year old swearing and a major temper tantrum over nit wanting to sit in a certain place at the table ....

Why not make place cards and place settings with all the children - they can draw pictures and you laminate them.
Then, when you set the table, each child sits in front of their laminated setting which has their card in front of them.
You decide where they sit and swap everyone round every day so they sit next to different friends - explain that's how you learn about other people.
Do lots of friend related activities at the same time as well.

although this morning i think I could have offered to fly to the moon for breakfast & would have got the same reaction! Lol
