Default Walking to school school challenges

    Hi,

I have 4 boys that I take to school, they are proper little boys and can get bored just walking the ten minutes to school.
So I give them challenges: at each lamp post the challenge is different.
So far the challenges have been:
    Side skipping
Driving lesson ( I tell them to check their mirrors, brake and indicate)
    Racing cars
    Trains
    Prowling lions
    Hop like bunnies
    Herd of elephants

But I'm running out of ideas?

    Any suggestions?

I find this works really well and the school run goes with ease.
So I don't want them to get bored

    TIA
    Kelly x

    How old are they boys?

I would ask them to come up with suggestions themselves. It saves you having to think up ideas all the time & it encourages their creativity

I think your own idea's are brill!
My own suggestions aren't as good as yours but they could spot red cars, how many dogs, looking for signposts etc

This is a really good idea!

    You could also do-
    marching like soilders
three steps forward and one back (not a good idea if you are in a hurry)
    flying like aeroplanes
walking while spinning arms around like windmills
    tiny steps like ants
fly like a bird (flapping arms a lot)
follow my leader- taking turns to be in front
counting how many steps it takes
on tip toes like a mouse
    walking silently like a ninja
slow like a snail (sliding feet along the ground)
doing big jumps with their feet together

Hope some of these ideas help, I will be doing this my self from now on.

    Love these ideas!

We sometimes do different animals or sometimes I'll say something like 'who can be a lamppost or a letterbox' or something.

Gosh that is very brave. The boys I mind are so over excitable if I mentioned anything other than "hold the buggy and walk with me" they would be off the pavement and in the road within seconds!

On the walk to school with the los we would stick stickers on the route to signs, lampposts, walls, bollards, etc. I would take a photo of each of the stickers in situ and then on the way home with the after schoolies, I would show them the photo and they would try to find the sticker. The children would remove the sticker and stick it to their top - saw some wonderful sharing as the older ones helped the younger ones find stickers; children were counting and comparing quantities.
