Mine are all in a cupboard upstairs where the minded children don't go or in a zipped bag on a high shelf in a kitchen cupboard. None of which are locked. My First Aid Kit is in LocK and Lock box in a high cupboard but I have a small blu tacked notice on the door of the cupboard saying the First Aid Kit is there.

I have a lockable medicine cabinet from Lidl a while back on a wall at my eye level but no work surface underneath in my utility room with a stair gate across the entrance.

My medication is in a high kitchen cupboard and my main first aid kit is on top of a cupboard but I have first aid kits all over the place (in the buggys, in the car, in my handbag)
