    Default Starting again!!

Hi all, I'm new too the site but hoping to get a hand in the right direction as I feel so confused about childminding at the moment. Since starting back after a long mat leave a lot has changed. I currently have a 2 yr old on my books and about to start a 2 yr check on him.... But I don't know where too start!! The child is very happy in my home and I love looking after him but the Ofsted and paperwork side of things really scares me off of cm. I have a learning journey full of photos and snippets of what we have been doing and although I know it's a lovely book for the parents too look through and see what there child has been doing I am also aware it would not be upto inspection standards!! All of my policies, info records and permission forms are fine as are my risk assessments. Should I still be doing daily, weekly and monthly planning around a topic? Sorry to waffle! Any info or advice would be really appreciated. I feel completely lost!!

    Hi

Sorry your post seems to have been overlooked. Usually a helpful, friendly bunch on here. I expect half have melted in the heat and the other half are too caught up with royal babywatch.

I don't plan round a theme. I prefer to start with where the child is at and what interests him/her, rather than trying to fit the child's needs round a theme IYSWIM.

Does your LA have a template for 2 year checks? I know some of them do. NCMA published one in what they claim to be a "book" called EYFS and You. I wouldn't call it a "book" - it's more of an over-priced glossy pamphlet. Guess who blew half a day's income on that little gem? Bitter? Me..........?

What area are you in? Can you hook up with other local CMs and see what they do?
