    Talking Starting up

    Hello.

I was planning to have my child minding business up and running by April next year. I have contacted my local authority to book my place on the course, and the February course is full already?

I already have a safeguarding certificate from the childrens centre I worked as a volunteer for. Would I be able to use this? Could I also get on to the first aid course with St Johns?

I was hoping I could keep these costs down you see.

Any tips at all will be gratefully received, and, this time next year, I may well be sharing a few of my own?

Your first aid and safeguarding have to be authorised by your Local Authority - so you need to check out courses with them first to make sure they are valid.

You must also do your intro course before Ofsted come to visit... plus have doctors check, CRB check and other paperwork through.

You are looking realistically at a good few months before you are ready to ask Ofsted to come and see you - depending on how long your course takes - different authorities offer different options.

Maybe ask if you can get on the earlier course if there is a cancellation??

Good luck! Don't forget to let us know how you are getting on
