What a gorgeous idea, our understairs cupboard is in the kitchen though and is our "utility cupboard".

It's lovely, but the kids can get out My cupboard under the stairs is where I keep the kids, no handle on the inside, it's great!
***** proofed the house but they're still getting in!

When my eldest was small we turned our understairs cupboard into a 'playhouse' - imagine the look on the midwife's face when doing her first home visit when my second was born - she'd been sat in our living room for ages looking at the new baby when suddenly the understairs cupboard door swung open and the, previously unseen, 4 year old appeared!!!!! I made her get up and look in the cupboard to see that I was telling the truth when I explained that she was only playing in there!!!

In our current house our dogs live in the huge understairs cupboard - with the door removed and a dog gate installed!!!!

That is lovely, the kids here would have to share my understairs cupboard with the gas and electric meters and all the spiders.

We had ours like that for a while - but without all the cutesy painting - but the kids never played in it, and I got fed up of smashing my head on the top. I did then until this weekend have all the older kids maths/clld/science resources in it, but the kids could never access it cos of the littlies.
So now it houses....'stuff'. Stuff we need but rarely use.

Great idea but I'd need another shed or get rid of one of my sons to find space for all the childminding related stuff that currently lives under the stairs!!!
