Default 2, 3 & 4yr old funding and tax credits

    How does this work?

I look after a lo 2 days a week whose mum claims tax credits to pay for his care. Her contribution is about £20 a week, the rest coming from tax credits.

If I could offer a funded place, she would end up paying me about £10 a week for the additional hours above the 15 free hours. If this was only term time though, would she be able to claim tax credits for the additional weeks when the full fee would be due? And could she actually claim tax credits towards the £10 term time that she has to pay?

Does that make sense, or have I got it completely wrong?

as she's not paying child childcare for 15hrs a week term time she cannot claim it and needs to ring tax credits and explain to them that she only needs x amount of hrs term time but her usual hrs during holidays, you will need to tell her how many hrs you claim for over the year and they will probably equal it out over the year and she will have to save it for the holidays.
