    Default Sef ?

Hi , Ive been minding since summer 2010 and have yet to have my first grading inspection because i haven't had an eyfs child .
I now have a child of this age group who will be attending some holidays , ive informed ofsted .
My childminding co-ordinator called the other week to see if i had done my sef , i haven't as it's not supposed to be compulsary and i have enough to do allready .
I feel i have all the relevant paper work to hand in an inspection and explained this to her and she said i best do it as i could be down graded for not doing one.
Has anybody else any experience of this ? i feel if it's true the sef would be compulsary surely?

You don't have to do it. You need to be able to show Ofsted that you have evaluated what you do and have clearly identified areas for improvement and can demonstrate how you are going to do this. That said I am 100% sure that I wouldn't have got the outstanding grading I got at my last inspection without doing it - it took me far too long though!

How are you currently self evaluating?

As long as you have a good system in place to show personal improvement you will be fine
