Updating my SEF
I want to put lots of information into my SEF without waffling, but insuring I put everything into it... I am a little bit stuck on the Children's Wellbeing part.. We involve them in planning and evaluation, we give them little jobs to do, we give them lots of praise and encouragement... I will give examples of these areas but what else is expected??? Any pointers would be gratefully received

I find using bullet points useful , and that stops me from waffling on
which section in particular are you stuck on

does this help , this is guidance my DW sent me
cant seem to find a) but ill have a look , and im assuming that the outcomes are still the same as they were when i filled my last SEF in
b) The extent to which children achieve and enjoy their learning
Discuss how you have noticed the children progressing and acquiring new skills. How will this impact on future learning?
i.e. self esteem confidence and willingness to tackle new and complex activities etc
Discuss how children are excited and engaged in their play through activities you have created and planned for. Link to next steps and how you observe their INDIVIDUAL NEEDS LIKES AND ABILITIES.
Discuss how parents relay the learning children have experienced with you, comments and examples i.e. Jack’s mum was amazed when he wrote his name etc
c)The extent to which children feel safe
Discuss how the children are interacting and how they notice potential hazards etc.
Discuss the fact that you support them to try new and challenging activities and that they are happy to do so because they have strong resilience based on a trust relationship with you.
How you promote safety is reflected in how children act to support themselves and others
BIG YOURSELF UP!!!!!!
SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT DISCUSS HOW YOU REPORT ACCIDENTS TO PARENTS AND THE CHILDREN ARE AWARE OF HOW TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES WHEN AN ACCIDENT OCCURS, THEY SOON DEAL WITH A FALL BY GETTING UP AND CARRYING ON AFTER LITTLE COMFORT ETC. THIS HIGHLIGHTS CHILDREN’S UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR EMOTIONS. CHILDREN FREELY EXPRESS EMOTIONS BY DISCUSSING THEIR FEELINGS WITH ME AND THEIR FRIENDS ETC THIS IS PROMOTED.
d) The extent to which children adopt healthy lifestyles
Evaluation
DISCUSS HOW CHILDREN ARE AWARE OF HEALTHY OPTIONS I.E. “J HASN’T EATEN HIS SANDWICH SALLY HE NEEDS TO BEFORE HIS CRISPS”
WASHING HANDS AND THE GERMS ETC. PHYSICAL EXERCISE AND OUT DOOR ACTIVITIES ADD COMMENTS FROM CHILDREN.
Outcomes for children are:
e) The extent to which children make a positive contribution
Evaluation
CHILDREN INFORM THE PLANNING AND DISCUSS ACTIVITIES ETC EXPAND UPON THEIR INVOLVEMENT IN YOUR SETTING AND THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH EACH OTHER SELF ESTEEEM, EFFECTIVELY COMMUNICATING ETC.
f) The extent to which children develop skills for the future
Evaluation
DISCUSS COMPETENT LEARNERS, FUTURE LEARNING SKILLS, PROGRESSION AND THE ABILITY TO DEAL WITH NEW AND CHANGING ENVIRONMENTS AND SITUATIONS. THIS ALL STEMS FROM HOW WELL THEY HAVE LEARN’T NEW THINGS WITH YOU. WHEN A CHILD STARTED HE COULDN’T COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY NOW HE CAN EXPRESS HIMSELF WITHOUT SUPPORT ETC

Ah OK , just had a look on the ofsted site and theyve changed the SEF , hence the confusion

they also have guidance document on the ofsted site of course , is that not very useful ?
