Default does everyone grade their risk assessments?

Does every one grade their risk assessments?
I was inspected two years ago with risk assessments in place and been updating and adding new ones as time has gone by, but just identified the risk and what is in place for the risk not to happen, but everyone seems to be saying they now need to be graded Low Medium or High, Is this right? do i need to be changing them all?

I've never even heard this before. It would make me cross how much we are expected to do by different 'authorities', but I won't be doing it until I am told its a requirement by Ofsted.
My risk asessements are very basic. My inspector suggested I use a more comprehensive format. I said I thought it was unnecessary and I had enough paperwork to do. She said " well yours is much more 'your own style' " and gave me a good, which I'm perfectly happy with.

I think it depends who you are trying to please, tbh My advice, is meet the actual legal requirements and anything beyond, do to a standard you feel is sufficient for you and mindees

    best wishes,

It is not required at all - in fact if you read Dame Tickell's review of EYFS you will see that a lot of what is said to be needed is actually not needed at all. She says that Ofsted, trainers, early years and others have meant well but have actually made the EYFS unworkable by saying all these things are needed when in fact they are not.

I have just 6 written RA's - all generic - the only thing I record is IF is I have come across a risk and what I did about it - I was graded outstanding

Some of mine are graded and some aren't.

I like to think that some modicum of common sense still prevails - if I see a risk I know whether it's a serious one or not but it makes no difference to how I protect the child.

No, I don't grade them. It won't make the risk any more or less so a risk, it just ticks a box.

Never even thought to grade them to be honest.

I don't grade mine either - anyway it looks as though written risk assessments may be on their way out with the review of EYFS.

Lianne - there's some good ra's here that might help you
