Ah i think you have touched upon one of my main fears as to why i wouldn't be able to childmind!!
You are allowed pets then?... Just lock them out the way i guess?

I have one rather big doggie (GS) and i was fearing i wouldn't even be able to start my quest as she's probably bigger than a small toddler. Also i didn't want to go through everything to end up registered then have children too scared to be near her.

Im feeling a lot more reassured with all the dog owners childminding I am finding out about, since i have gone from no dog to two in four months!

I cover pets in my premises risk assessements
and also have a pet policy about encouraging and expecting mindees to treat pets with respect etc, keeping food prep areas cat free and hygienic, similarly, sleeping areas... and that I put food and water in an outside shed (away from mindees) and state that i regularly worm and flea them, with a table to tick and date each time its done.
We have 2 cats and 2 ferrets who are very spoiled (they are my 18 yr old's)

Wendy

Decided I would like a dog last september, got a gorgeous ess puppy 48 hours later, (incredibly lucky a breeder about 45 mins from here had an amazing litter), then decided very quickly that we would love two, contacted same breeder about a litter later this year, and after a few emails back and forth he offered us our dogs 9 month old sister who had been pet/part trained gundog that he was selling on and thought she might suit us, after him interviewing us and both dogs meeting, we both agreed it was a good match and a week later, nearly two weeks ago she came to live with us! Hence between 23/9 and 22/1 two dogs!!! The youngest is 6 1/2 months and the newest coming up 10 months.
When we set our mind on something we dont hang about!
