    Default Work experience

Hi hope everyone had a good start to the new year.

I want to ask, has anyone every taken on a school work experience student, if so how long for, how did it go?
I've been approached to have a young school girl, daughter of a friend of mine that i have known since she was 8. a lovely girl.

I have done it twice. Each time for a week. i wrote a newsletter / permission slip to parents stating that they will be here, would not be left alone with any of the children or changing nappies etc. Will do it again!

I have had a mature student working with me - it was great to have and adult to chat with. She actually had some really good ideas too so I tapped into her knowledge

    I would do it again!

I've considered having a work experience come to me if my numbers go up. Mind you, the one who asked me is actually my niece lol

Legal wise you need to get your employers liability insurance certificate. Inform the parents and do another RA if you think it's necessary.

I have had a few, some were good, one was ****** terrible and clearly petrified of children.

Do they have to be registered with ofsted as an assistant still? How does it work? Assistant takes upto 16wks to register so is this the same?

Are work experiences under 16? I think they are so you probably wouldn't need to register them as an assistant. Just sort out the insurance side

With the employers insurance, does it cost any extra? and do you just ring Ofsted about it?
