Default Husband as assistant: everything it involves + costs

I registered my husband as an assistant when I registered 'just in case' it would be useful. It was not: he has never been alone with children and I see no need in future. He has a full-time job and I do not need him to increase my numbers.

I am weighing up pros and cons of keeping him registered as his first aid is coming up for renewal. I know that if I need him to have children 'in an emergency' he does not need to be registered anyway. So I want to make a list of everything involved in having your partner registered as an assistant, with costs:

    • Registered with Ofsted
    • 12-hour Paediatric 1st Aid (to be left with children) (£80-ish)
    • Employers Liability Insurance (£5 Pacey)
    • Policies and Procedures and Permissions to cover assistant
    • Register of when assistant is left with children

    ... what have I missed?

I was ill once and my DH was able to take the children to school as he was a registered assistant.

He can still be in the house without being an assistant and as long as you are there it is fine
