Assistant medical referral interview...!!! please help!
Hi all, I am hoping that someone can give me some advise or have been in the same situation as me... I am in the process of registering my mum as my assistant- will only be 2 days max per week and on an adhoc basis, anyway she has a history of mental illness which she is on long term medication for- all which was stated on all her relevant forms, have recieved crb back and now has been 2 months now since we started the process and she has recieved a letter for an appointment to be seen by one of the medical assesment team about her medical history.. ... she is really worried that they wont let her be able to do it with me, and as she was a childminder many years ago will be really gutted if she wont be able to do it again!! seeing if anyone can shed some light on what happens during this assesment/ how long do we have to wait for the outcome etc... would be very grateful for any feedback as internet searching the subject has got me no where!

It's routine for anyone who is on medication or has a history of illness.
Your mum will just need to chat to Ofsted's medical people and reassure them that she is fit to care for children.
I am sure it will be fine xx

ok, thankyou. She has been a volunter for a mother and toddler group for the past 5 years and they have never had an issue regarding her medical history so hope it wont get in the way for her..!

I am sure it will be fine they just need to check she is fit to care for children.

I suggest you put something together yourself - it will be relevant to your provision then.
Just include - name, date, title - feedback and maybe give a few areas you are looking for feedback on eg training opportunities, supervision etc.

I had to have one because I am on pain killers for my back. I had to go and see a private doctor who did some work for Ofsted. He was really nice and friendly, just chatted to me about my medication, how I would manage with children and a bad back. I had already given this a lot of thought and it was clear to him that I had. He told me there and then that he would be writing to tell Ofsted that he thought I was suitable with the adjustments that I was going to be put in place.
I hope it goes well for you both
