    Hi

    Story sacks are great . A story sack takes a book and brings it alive through the use of props/items in the story. You can use these to tell the story with or get the children to use them while you tell the story. There is also normally a non-fiction book on a linked subject & one or two games which extend the story. All stored in a bag/box or basket

    They are easy to make for instance I have a gruffalo storysack . I bought the book in a set with a gruffalo soft toy. I used some finger puppets for the fox, owl, mouse and a snake soft toy. I then added my daughters mix & match monster game & some printables from the Gruffalo website and a book about woodland animals.

    You can get some ideas from http://www.storysack.com/ which is the man who "invented" storysacks but they are really expensive but give you ideas. Stuff doesn't have to be new you can pick stuff up from boot fairs/charity shops/jumble & stuff lying about at home .

    Just remembered a really easy one Goldilocks & the three bears .

    3 different sized bears. Yellow haired doll. 3 diff sized bowls & spoons. Can use pictures of different sized chairs/beds. Can have size themed games, porridge recipe and a book on bears or cooking or something like that

    I have just nearly finished a lovely one for Elmer.

    A stuffed Elmer;

    an information book about elephants;

    some Elmer books;

    an elephant dominoes game;

    an elephant jigsaw;

    some elephant pictures for copying, tracing, colouring etc;

    An elephant outline with holes round the edges for sewing;

    Ideas for painting elephants all different colours like Elmer;

    A sheet of elephant activity ideas - still writing this one.. I never seem to have enough time

    a laminated song sheet for '5 little elephants balancing' and elephants on sticks to act out the song...

    I am on the look-out for some 'normal' colour stuffed or Beanie elephants as well.

    The children love it!

    Once the activity sheet is finished I will let children borrow it at the weekend to use with parents
