Default Starting a 'Before and After School Club'

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction please. I would like to start a before and after school club at my house for approx 6 children. I am currently near completion on a EYFS course and I have just completed my first aid course and was wondering what other qualifications I need to obtain before I approach Ofsted. I have checked out a few web sites but to be honest I am getting in a bit of a pickle with all the jargon. Does anyone know of a website where I can view a full and comprehensive list of qualifications, policies and procedures, insurances (including anything else that I probably havent even thought of yet,) so I have a tick list to work from? Any direction or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks.

As it is from your home I am assuming you would still just register as a Childminder as you are operating from a domestic premises - you are allowed to have 6 children under 8, so as long as you didn't go over this ratio you would be fine, you could take on more children if you had an assistant - which could be handy if you have more than one school to drop off and collect from - your assistant would need a DBS (new name for CRB) and they would have to do the first aid course too (if going to be left on own ie: going to different schools to you).

You said you are doing an EYFS course - if you intend to have pre-school children then this will affect how many school aged children you can have, as it is 6 children under 8 in total (including your own).

Good luck - may be worth trying to find out if your local schools are intending to offer before and after school clubs as the Government has indicated that schools should try to open between 8 am - 6 pm to help working parents!
