Default can't seem to edit my own posts - where has the edit button gone?

maybe i'm being blind but I'm sure I've been able to edit posts until quite recently but now there is nowhere I can see to click 'edit'
I usually make cringe-worthy spelling mistakes or want to add something so it makes a bit more sense.
Just wondered if anyone could tell me please!

Unless Richard has changed it the edit option is only available for 24 hours. The problem with people editing after that time is they can make a thread lose its whole context if things are changed after they have had replies, so after that time it is only done by admin.

oh right - I never knew that!! I was going to go back and add to a thread I was writing about getting an assistant but I can just put it in the next post - thought it would be easier to keep it all together but its no worries - just thought I was going mad (seems to be happening a lot recently!) and I've had a week off so no excuses!

I've checked with Richard and he hasn't changed anything so it is just as it always has been - shows what holiday do to you, that time off addled your brain
