Anyone recommend a book to help..?
Hi, Still very new have only been minding a couple of weeks. Am struggling making obs and linking them and then doing next steps..
Is there such a thing as a book which helps with development stages and EYFS which then gives ideas what next steps would be???
Hope so cos it all seems so mind boggling at moment!!!
Re: Anyone recommend a book to help..?
Books can be expensive unless you use the library. Sarah707 writes great e books, she sells them for a good price on her websiteand has one on obs and planning. You also don't have to link all obs and not every one has a next step, have you looked through the eyfs practice guidence it gives you suggestions for next steps. Also on the national stratigies website there is alot of ideas for planning for each area. And of course asking on here, everyone is always happy to help. If you look through the eyfs section on the forum you will find lots on this subject with lots of good advice.

Awww thanks guys for your recommendations! :thank you:
Gem the first thing I recommend is that you have a really good look through the Eyfs ages and stages information for each child.
From this you will get lots of ideas for linking observations and finding next steps.
The other thing is not to over complicate things... a next step can be as simple as...
'Continue playing with...'
'Do more jigsaws as child really likes them at the moment...'
'Find out more about...'
Hth :D
