Hi
I've got 2 mindee's who love trains, i was thinking of taking them to a steam museum, i've found one which is about 1 hr 30 mins drive away. Just wondered how far your willing to go for a day out?
Not sure if i'm being to kind going this far or if it's normal :)
I have a little one really into trains.
We took him on a train ride and visited a local garden centre which has a little steam train.
I would go an hour to the beach but not really further than that I don't think :D
I'm sure they'd love it, I've driven a couple of hours to the sea before :)
Depends how good they are at travelling. My own kids are 2 and 4 and we have a max 2 hr car journey slot before all h*** breaks out in the back of the car!
I would not go that far with mindees for a day out - but all mine are little ones!
Mine are all 3 years old so i weighing up whether it would be worth it or not as they are young but i know they would love it and they speak really well and tell the parents what we do everyday.
I've travelled an hour and a half to Eureka before and that was ok. I would think it would be fine.
i'd ask parents what they thought, im taking my older mindee's on a train on thursday to the museum, ive never been without my car before and im really excited!
We went to cadbury world today and it took us almost an hr and half to get there by train but then again we did have a change so it broke it up a bit. My mindees were aged 6, 23mths, 22mths and 13mths so all little as well! Just very glad that hubby came with me to help out. Getting him registered as my assistant is the best thing I have ever done!!
I took my 2 and a mindee to Legoland Windsor which was between 3-4 hours :panic: Mindee was an older one though but it's not something I'd do again as it was a very long day.
Normally travel anything up to 1 1/2 hours but only when my hubby is with me as he can help with our 2.

The max i go is 1.5hours as with traffic that can sometimes be 2hours!!! Only you can judge your children and how they would cope :thumbsup: xx
I think they would cope ok, i reckon they would probably fall asleep, they have been in the car for up to an hour bafore and have been fine. Well i think i might just go and hope they enjoy the trains to make the journey worth it :)

Shame you cannot go on the train to the railway
Are you by any chance coming to Swindon? There is a great Steam Railway here with lots to do and you can go in an out all day as you please and it is right next to the Outlet Village where you can have lunch.
We quite often do trips that take about an hour and a half, we have done Monkey Forest, Eureka, The Deep, Twycross Zoo etc. and all are about that far, I do only usually do one or two of these length trips per holiday though, as it works out too expensive with the fuel. :o
Hour and half, think that is plenty to give them a decent time there and to allow for coming back.
