Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
Hubby applied for a job ages ago, when we were really quiet, and not sure what we were doing.
Well, out of the blue this recruitment agency phone, about a job he'd applied for. She said to him that she didn't think he should put that he's been a childminder down on his cv! So assuming she thinks it would look better that he's be 'unemployed' for the last year, than childminding!!!
She went on to say it doesn't look very good, and that she doesn't think she'll put him forward for the position she has available!
What a cheek!!! Her office job is obviously way more important than the resposibilty of someones most precious thing in the world...!!
I'd have gone into one spouting stuff off but hubby just lets it go!

Re: Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
My friend described me as an entrepreneurial child carer the other day! Maybe he should try that as a job description ;)
Re: Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
Is hubby going for a field totally different to this? It might be if he is management is may not be the best advertisement for that job
I know where you are coming from and yes others are ignorant but that is where I love to educate!
Re: Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
That's really horrible,I know what it feels like people who work in offices thing you are at home doing nothing when in fact you are looking after their children that they have choose to leave with you a caring, loving person
Re: Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
he should discribe himself as an Early Years Foundation Stage Practitioner lol.
My SIL who i dont like anyway is a secondary school teacher and always refers to me as a "babysiter" sooooo patronising!
Re: Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
Oh my God what a :censored: !!!!
Cheeky Cow!!! I'd report her for having a really bad attitude and for being unprofessional!
Re: Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
She clearly has no idea what being a cm involves, I don't think many people do.
I had a double glazing salesman cold call yesterday, I told him I couldn't talk as I'm a cm and have children to look after. He said 'Oh right then, I wanted to speak to the homeowner anyway' I told him 'For your information, cm work in their own homes'

Re: Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
I work in an office Monday to Wednesday and childmind Thursdays and Fridays. When I leave for the day on Wednesday afternoons my workmates always say, "ooo I wish I was off for the rest of the week, it must be great only working part time", erm, HELLO i do work the rest of the week and quite hard may I add. I do a lot more paperwork for my business some days than I do in my office job.
Re: Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
Perhaps we should give our job description as "running a small business in the childcare sector".
Honestly, i've even had people say to me when i've mentioned I am a childminder "oh well, when your kids are old enough you can get a proper job!"
I have listed I am a childminder on my CV! And I am proud of it too!:clapping:
Re: Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
Silly cow!! I would be phoning her back and giving her a mouthful I would be so cross!
Re: Peoples ingnorance over our jobs!
Does this lady work for a recruitment agency or is she the 'owner'? Can she say she is a successful self-employed person. Think not!!!!
