We have recently been graded outstanding (my 3rd and Nige's 1st) and this is the paperwork we use to record children's learning and play - and showed our inspector.

Thank you Sarah, very informative. I especially like your advice on sharing/chatting about our written observations. I had the same conversation with my inspector who suggested that we lone working childminders get together with another childminder and observe them observing a child and to chat about it afterwards to give feedback, 2 points too consider improvement and one point of 'well done'. Then to document what has been noted and how we will take the advice on board to show continuous improvement.

Hmmm... I prefer - 2 stars and a wish!!

Sandwich an 'aim for improvement' with 2 things the practitioner has done well - motivation is the key :D
