Burglar alarms - do you have one, would you consider one?

Does anyone have a burglar alarm - would you recommend it, would you recommend any particular type? Have you got one and wished you hadn't? Or do you think it is one of the best things you have invested in?

Depends what your area is like. To be honest they are a pain in the :censored:
You'd be better off in investing in good locks and putting trellis on the top of your fences.
You can get dummy boxes to put on the outside. But the biggest way to stop burglars is to have net curtains and have proper curtains at night.
I'm always amazed at how much people are willing to put on show for the rest of the world at night. Lights blazing away and you can see right inside their living rooms.

we had one until we redecorated the lounge and took it out, the boxes are still on the outside. I have a timer light in the lounge which comes on as it gets dark and goes off about half an hour after we go to bed.

We have one and yes we use it, it puts our mind at ease. Although one time I set the alarm with the key fob but then left my keys in the door and went out shopping :blush::laughing: Yes I can laugh abough it now.

I would do everything I could to deter after some
one trying to break into my flat years ago AND I was in at the time!!!!!

I do also keep the blinds at an angle so people can't see in, oh and when the window cleaner is due all blinds are closed in all rooms. I sound really paranoid!!!

We have one and its also set to ring if anyone walks into my hall way so that goes for children or people coming and going it quite handy if im in garden with children as i can hear parents arrive as i unlock front door if we are outside in garden and home time is soon.

We have Got one!! On our street i no family who has put dummy one i suppose that works too. Other option you could have is sensor light front anc back garden!! It also helps.

We have one, it was an 'all in' package from ADT.
We have burgular alarm, panic button, smoke alarms and Carbon monoxide alarms built in.

We were told by the Police that if you are going to have a burgular alarm then to make sure you have a monitored alarm (we ay £1 per day). The policeman I spoke to said they don't respond to alarms that are not monitored as a priority.

We had one in our old house but never used it as we have cats / dog so couldn't really as they would set it off.
