    Default Our Diwali week.

Been busy this week! Its only Wednesday and so far we have...

    Made Coconut Burfi (or Barfi):

Made salt dough diva candle holders:

Painted mendhi inspired patterns on our hands with face paints:

Drawn rangoli inspired pictures with coloured chalks on black paper:

Filled in rangoli pattern templates with coloured rice:

Very pleased with the results considering I only get about an hour to do any sort of activities when the mindees are with me after school

    WOW!! They are excellent!!!!

I think you have been to Activity Village? They had similar activities there too !

We did Clay Diyas and decorated them with Jewels, Hand painted Mendi Patterns and chalk Rangoli Patterns outside

Hope they learnt lots too ! My daughter was so happy, she knew alot about Divali which surprised me! She knew more than me lol

    I love doing the festivals

    Awww thanks

Yes, you're right - I got the rangoli templates from Activity Village

I think next time I will do drawing mendhi patterns on hands cut from paper as that was one hell of a mess to clear up again.

And I will leave the divas to dry naturally instead of baking them - as you can see, before they were baked the holes were big enough for tea lights but now they only fit thin candles.

They look fantastic. I did my candles last week and they decorated them with felt tips last night.

Amazing how they look like yorkshire puddings before cooking!

    Well done

we used washable felt tips for our mehndi patterns on hands , and eye liner also works well - much less mess than paint!

These are FANTASTIC! You have some very talented little people
The rangoli pictures with the rice are great - will make a note of that idea for next year!
We used the same templates but with glitter - however everyone got a little 'glitter-happy' and the patterns disappeared underneath a mountain of multicoloured glitter and we all sparkled from head-to-toe (even the cat!!) We all had a great time & the parents liked them though!! Guess that's what its all about
