Default Contracts, procedures for children less than 2 hours

As it is not a requirement to be registered for children who are cared for less than 2 hours a day, do I still need to have signed contracts and procedures?
I have been recently registered, but this question is about some children I have been asked to look after for 1 hour before school. I am member of NCMA and realise I would not benefit from any fee disputes but I trust the parents, would my Public Liability Insurance still be valid without signed contracts?

Also do I need to do obs and planning for the 5 year olds if I have them for less than 1 hour?

    Thank you for anyones help.

    Hi,

I have got the same problem. I have a lo starting in September school drop off Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning 1 hour each morning. Mum works 9-2 term time only so will never need me any other time. Not sure what to do really.

I have contracts for all the children I care for, whatever the hours.
    Better safe than sorry.

The 5 year olds will be in eyfs until 31 aug after their birthdayt , so some basic planning / obs maybe in the form of a scrapbook ? Certainly nothing in depth for such a little time - routine things will cover much of the eyfs too.. maybe get hold of a school newsletter so you can show you are complementing their planning?
