Don't know where to start !!! Help !!

Hi there

I am currently in process of ICC course, have completed First Aid course, but believe I should now be at point of starting to write up policies?? I just dont know where to start!!! I am so confused. Any help appreciated as I just feel a little lost at min

Hi, I have found the policy writing quite hard....especially as the people who run our course like you to write them yourself from scratch.

Bromley is a great starting point

My DH has just done the ICP course and the tutor was very hot on them not just handing in copies of downloaded policies. So remember to have a good look at them and decide what applies to your setting as you see it and out them in your own words.

I used the bromley site mentioned before, I just re worded them, NCMA website were also really useful. Also make sure you put in the footer the date created, by who, and a review date.

As other members also mention NCMA and Bromley are very good .Just take little bit from both of them and than you may want to add few things as well as you may get an idea about the way you want to run your own bussines. Also if you google you may get little more.....help

I agree the NCMA are good as a start, theres nothing wrong in reading through those and if you agree then use those to start with and then as you get more experienced you can gradually start re-writing them.
It is a very daunting task and a big job, but very satisfiying once your finished.

How are you getting on? Have you managed to write any yet? I started off by writing the easy ones like No Smoking Policy, then tackled some of the more difficult ones. I've still got quite a few to do.

I think its easier just to look at one and start with that.
at the begining my head was everywhere thinking of all the policies to write.

Just look at the main ones to start

safeguarding, admissions, etc and do one a week.

look at bromley as a starting point but remember they are YOUR policies so copying is pointless, they can just give you an idea of where to start and the content

don't try to do them all at once, just chill pick one to start, i found once you start one it gets a lot easier

Well so far I have done the Pet Policy ..... seemed like an easy one and used the sites that you guys mentioned .... although it was a little hard to re-word with it being such a basic policy, so a bit concerned ofsted will think I have copied

Just spending the day reading up on stuff and getting to know my way around this Forum ... finding it soooo helpful so thanks

Am sure I will have plenty more questions as I go along
