The pack is now out and mine has been delivered. Its a LOT skinner and less paperwork than the caterers pack

I got mine on Tuesday - I think it's a good booklet - written in plain English
There's an interesting bit about food receipts - says although no official guidelines for how long they must be kept they recommend four weeks.

you can order it from the food standards agency, sorry don't know how to put a link.
Just some initial thoughts... I've not read it all properly yet, only skimmed
Hi, I have just received my pack for childminders - thank you very much.
I am a little concerned and wish to clarify some of the points raised please.
- There does not appear to be any requirement to temperature probe cooked and re-heated food. My partner is a chef in a school and is adamant that this must be done to keep the children safe;
- There does not appear to be any requirement to monitor fridge temperatures, yet I am under the impression Ofsted inspectors regularly ask childminders to show them their fridge temp record sheets. Is this something you are adding to the packs in the future or have Ofsted agreed it is no longer a requirement?
- I cannot find a note of how long the record sheets / diary need to be retained;
- The pack says that childminders who serve up packed lunches do not need to use the pack. Can you please clarify how childminders are covered legally if a child falls ill and the parents say it must have been the childminder not storing food properly because they did everything right? This question links back to the apparent lack of requirement to check fridge temperatures on a daily basis, which I feel is a very dangerous thing when considering domestic fridges.
I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
Best regards, etc
excellent points Sarah.
I am going to have a read through mine when I can get of the forum!!!
I must admit i have not ever heard of a minder being asked for fridge temps and when I spoke to Enviro health they told me the fridge/freezer thermometers weren't necessary (but a nice touch) nor where food probes.
Will be very interested in the answers
I rang my local council to see if they are sending them and, surprise surprise, they didn't know anything about them. They rang me back after talkling to another department who said they are going out country wide this week.
Bet we land up ordering them though - lost in post etc...
