Pet Policy
I believe that children can learn a lot from having contact with animals; however certain procedures must be followed to ensure the safety of the children;
• Children will be encouraged to treat all animals with respect and learn how to handle them correctly.
• Children will wash their hands after any contact with animals and understand the reasoning behind this.
• Children will be taught that not all animals are child friendly and that they should always check with the animal’s owner before attempting to stroke or handle them.
• Food for the pet will be stored safely away from the children’s reach.
• A high standard of hygiene will be followed, with careful thought given to the placing of water bowl.
• Food bowls will be put away unless in use by the dogs, in which case the dogs will be fed away from the children.
• The garden will be checked every morning, before the children are permitted outside to play, to ensure that no animal has fouled it.
•we have a fenced off dog free, child friendly zone in the garden
• All relevant animals are wormed and are medically fit and well
sorry copy and pasted a bit funny !!
hhmm not sure what to do this could pose a problem !
I don't go into too much detail, with mine, I just get parents to acknowledge that we have animals and they are fine with the kids coming into contact with them.
We have even more pets than you but then we do live in a zoo.... ooops I mean on a farm
I also put on mine that at no time will the children be left unattended with one of the animals.
As for your budgies, I would say you will only let them out after of before minding and that you will clean and disenfect thoroughly any mess they make
All you have to show is that by having your animals that you are not compromising your mindees health or safety
My lot love all my animals so good luck and I have fun.
Pm me if you need any more help
thanks for that Flora that good to know !
Sounds good to me, I would add the bit about no child is ever left alone with an animal too though.
And if you'll pardon me for being pedantic, and I wouldn't bother it it weren't for your policies and procedures, this bit reads a bit funny:
You need to put a comma after the word off as well as after the word free.•we have a fenced off dog free, child friendly zone in the garden
So it should read:
•we have a fenced off, dog free, child friendly zone in the garden
Hope you don't mind me saying. ops:
