I just note it in my fire avacuation log when we have a fire drill. Its just a tick box on the page.

Is that a general childminding diary you have for yourself? What sort of things do you record in there? Just what you have done during the day etc? and is this just for you or do you share it with parents?

I just have a sheet which I log daily fridge temperature, & the weekly smoke alarm check on a Monday morning.
I always check it with the children here so they get used to hearing the noise of the alarm.
The fridge temp, I record the temp but the fire alarm I just put 2 ticks if they both work. If the battery runs down I write in the date it was changed & recently had a new one fitted so wrote the date that was done too.

It is an A4 week to a view diary, in it I write

which children are booked for that day ( I have lots of part timers and it can vary weekly)
    daily smoke detector checks
    daily risk ass. check
    daily fridge temp. check
    any visitors/workmen etc
    any outings/special events
    mileage for car
anything else I might like to keep a note of

this is for me and a record for Ofsted not for the parents

I have one of these, as suggested by my pre-reg inspection.
It shows weekly smoke alarm tests, when cleaned and when batteries are replaced.

I don't do them as my are linked but if you have battery ones the battery bleeps when it is low so why do you need to check it?
