You need to keep all the contract information and anything that is locked away for confidentiality such as attendance records, accident records, child info, etc

I have always kept mine as parents already have their own copy and I treat them like all other records that we have to keep for so many years.

Sorry to hear you are losing a child Gem, will you still be ok?

Yes just keep all the confidential stuff under lock and key for 21 years

I thought it was until the child was 21 years and something old?

Ive just been told that we have to keep child observation forms for three years from the date they were written!! That was from the EYWT manager, so Im taking it as gospel.

I dont want to keep all that though. What do I care??? The parents can take it and pass it on to the next childcare setting, if they want, or keep it for their child. Je ne comprande pas!

Thanks for all the advice I will remove them and put them somewhere safe. I feel very sad because I've worked with this family since I started minding, me and mum were both in tears when she told me, so am going to give him hopefully a lovely send-off and over the years mum and i have become close even though you're not supposed to so they'll be coming for visits. Well its so quiet round here at the moment and another mum is possibly facing the chop too, my hubby has very little work so I've been looking for part time work and luckily have got a few sessions in the preschool which fits around the children I have but probably means that if things improve I will be sticking with the mindees I have and not taking on new ones because I need a reliable income
