    Default Good practice or a legal requirement?

    Hi there,
    Can anyone please tell me if it is a good practice or a legal requirment to have a staff register?

    I am sure it must be a requirement for both childminding and employing staff - in case there is a safeguarding concern ie: allegation of abuse or proving you weren't over ratios and in case your employees questioned their wages based on number of hours they had worked. I am sure you have to document also incidents of every time your assistants were left unsupervised with the children.

    Yes you must record when staff/assistants are working plus any times they are left in sole change and with what children.
