    Default car insurance any help?

    hiya i know i need to get buisness insurance added onto my car insurance we only have a small car (saxo) cant afford a bigger car at mo im a named driver on my partners insurance (iv only been driving a year )
    so when i phoned up to ask about buisness insurance i was told it would be £80 extra to add did eveyone else have to pay extra everyone i have spoken to said it wouldnt cost its £80 i dont have at the min if i wanted buisness insurance added on in my name she said it would be £80 extra but it would be free to put buisness insurance in partners name would it be ok to have it added in his name or does it have to be in my name
    sorry to ramble on there is so much to think about

    I would check with the insurance company. There have been some changes to the classifications and I know a couple of members have had problems.

    There are some specialist childminding insurance companies - Morton Michel are reasonable, I just got mine from there

    We've just taken out insurance on 3 of our cars with Admiral multi-car policy.

    They gave us a quote without business use, I then said I needed it for childminding. She went away and said that's fine, no extra cost. My husband said he needed it for business use as well, they wanted to charge extra because of commuting. He said no way was he going to use it for commuting he sometimes had to visit sites. They didn't charge any extra then, just put on the insurance certificate that business use was not including commuting.

    It would be worth phoning around rather than using confused.com or similar.
