Default Inspection imminent..a couple of questions!

    Hello all..
Me again...just wondered if any of you get permission from parents for ofsted to view their child's developmental records, forms and LJ'S prior to inspection?
Also, I find it impossible to get to any toddler groups at the moment mainly because the days/hours/timings of them don't match the days/hours I do(and also constantly chasing up parents to register with local ones!!)...this will change when one of mine starts school in Sept, but am worried about this if asked..., although parents are happy with activities/outings and know the kids socialise well with each other.Has anyone else had this problem?
I'd be grateful for any thoughts as Mrs O is coming next week!!

All they want to know is - you have given sufficient thought and planning to everything you do. Your reasons for not going to group are very clear and understandable and it will change in September.
You can write that in a self evaluation paragraph for example to cover yourself and add that parents are happy with this. I honestly don't see how they could object to that.

Permissions for others (educational purposes) to view records photos etc is all signed for at time of contract.

I don't have specific permission for Ofsted to view any paperwork. You can't really refuse them, so I have never thought of asking permission.

As for toddler groups, I don't attend any regularly at the moment. My reason is that the children are all part time and all attend playgroups or toddler groups on the days they're not with me. My aim is to complement what the do with their family, not to duplicate it. We still go to the library regularly and local community events. If I had a child come to me who didn't attend groups with their parents, I would make an effort to go to one with them.

As others have said you cannot refuse Ofsted to look at anything that has to do with EYFS and registration...that is what the inspectorate inspects us for......to look at compliance

Ofsted will not be interested in anything 'financial' ...that is not their remit and do not look at contracts closely or fees or your business.

There is no obligation to take children to playgroups or Stay and Play sessions ...please do not worry unnecessarily....nowhere it says we MUST...plenty else you can provide such as playtime with other CMs or in the park, or go to libraries or CCentres....so there is no problem there

Has Ofsted called you to say they are coming because if they are coming next week that is an awful lot of notice...
you should receive a call a few days before from your inspector...that is according to guidance...but you may have been contacted by either Tribal or Prospects to 'update details'?...that will not guarantee you an inspection next week

    Good luck

Thanks everyone for your replies and reassurance!...I feel better now and very grateful for this wonderful forum! x x

Simona this will be my first inspection (I was registered 4 years ago!) after many phone prompts by me letting them know I hadn't been graded after all this time.Mrs O called last week to check when/if I would be working on the day she wanted to come for which I am very thankful, but still fretting and burning the candle at both ends (SEF ..3am finish on Sunday!)trying to get things in order whilst busy minding.x
