Graded Outstanding this month
After minding for 10 years and last 2 inspections getting good with outstanding areas finally got the grade
I don't post very often, but read the forum most weeks. I thought that as there seems to be lots of interest
in inpections in the current round I would share my inspection and answer any questions you guys might have.
The inspection was different this time, much much more focus on how we know our children, their interests, stages of development and what we do to ensure they make progress in their learning and development. Rather than huge reams of paperwork that I had assumed you needed to get an outstanding,(and never having these reams!) after many years 'discussing' these requirements with LEA, this inspector watched the children and I during the first 1/2 hour and then asked me about the children, in a very general way. I know my children, I watch and play with them every day; so this was easy.
I did nothing spectacular, just followed the normal routines, snack time, storytime, outside play etc the children know what usually happens here so played and bickered over the favorite car outside! Just like a normal day.
Prior to the inspection, the inspector phoned to make the appointment and asked me, to ask if the parents could write a letter saying what I did in partnership with them - as she would not be able to speak to all of them on the day - I asked the parents to do this and over the weekend, such amazing letters came in that made me cry!
These meant more to me than any inspection and so I started the week on a high! Bring on the inspector
Am rambling! - feel free to ask questions, will answer all that I can.

Well done Cindy, one of my assistants has just gone out on her own and got a 'good' last month. My inspection was nearly 4 hours long, hers and another friends were about 2 hours, can you tell me how long yours was?

Well done you!!
It's reassuring to know that some inspectors are more interested on you & the children than on your paperwork!

When someone tells you nothing is impossible, tell them to go slam a revolving door

Don't get too complacent! We were almost knee deep in snow when I had mine! I was praying that it would be postponed at the time, but in reality it was just good to get it over with. For some reason mindee arrived with no snowsuit and so I had to dig out an old one of my daughters for him and it took us ages to get suited and booted for outdoor play! The inspector had fun in the snow in the garden with the little ones! In a way I hate the scorching sunny weather more as you just worry that you may have missed a spot with the suncream and it takes just as long to get ready to play outside! x
