Ofsted inspection info updated in December
Ofsted | Conducting early years inspections
Haven't had chance to look at what has been updated in December - only a month after it was published!
But thought I would share.
-
Not again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
But thank you for telling us.

Not got time now to read it all but is the word childminders jumping out at anyone else as been highlighted? (Only on some bits)
Have we actually caused enough fuss they have to change their wording?

I love this forum, i have only just received Nov from our LA gd too see they are keeping upto date :-)

I really think there are no LAs updates anymore...by the time they are sent to us they are well 'old news' and a new updated version is already been published and I bet many CMs already thinking of printing and dissecting!!!
we now seem to be ahead of the game when it comes to sharing information...we should give ourselves a pat on the back!!
I skimmed through the update...I spotted a couple on page 9..why oh why could they not have just 'Highlighted' the added bits!
Happy reading...I am sure we will come back and comment after digesting!

Gathering and recording evidence
17. The inspector should highlight and/or identify any information that has been provided 'in confidence' but must not identify the person who has given it
Has been removed is now point 18 with additional information
18. has changed in total
Old 18 is now 19, 19 is 20 etc
NEW POINT 59!! Minor administrative errors
Old 63 (new 65) addition - First line 'need to improve.... and tailored to the specific circumstanes of the setting
Last line - ' requirements of the EYFS.... next bit removed and replaced with Inspectors may use the inspection criteria in the evaluation schedule as a guide but should not quote directly from the document
Old 69 (New 71) wording change due to satisfactory grading being removed
Old 94 (new 96) wording change
Old 97 (New 99) Provision for children before or after school or during school holidays removed
A quick skim, hope that helps

What I want to know is how come Ofsted are allowed to publish a document without making sure it is correct and up to date - does that mean I can show them my policies and if they pick me up on anything I can say that I have that flagged up for the revised version? Who inspects the inspectors?

I imagine the Inspectors are finding it difficult to keep up to date too... The wasted cost is ridiculous ..more training for the inspectors...etc..
I have written to my local MP and Michael Gove... Though I expect both see my name and roll their eyes...!!!
It makes me feel better ...
Roll on the January update...

I wonder if any of these updates reflect the concerns the workforce has been raising to Ofsted recently via #OfstedBigConversation, the media and other press releases when we have made our concerns clear about inspections?
I have not read the document line by line yet but it would be good to find they are listening? or am I dreaming of a white Christmas here?

We were exchanging a few tweets this morning about the new guidance and Ofsted itself came back to us saying :
Just to clarify, the new guidance has minor updates, reflecting changes to inspection judgements.
I sent a tweet back saying thank you...good to know they are listening!!
