    Default Ready made trackers

    Hiya,
In our area the council are starting a scheme to give free education to 2 year olds. Many childminders have signed up. As part of the agreement we will have to complete trackers regularly on these children so the council have provided us with ready done ones. I thought they were better than my own so I have printed them off for all of my mindees.
Just wanted to share them with you if it makes our lives easier!!
    www.lancashire.gov.uk/education/childcare
go to FEYE 2 year olds
    go to providers information
    go to toolkit.

The idea is all the development matters statements are written on one sheet per area. You highlight each statement as the child achieves it and date it on the individual progress tracker.
e.g. On CLL grid if the child has achieved 1 of the development matters, you would highlight the grid and date it as emerging on the individual progress tracker. If they do 2 or 3 on the grid, highlight the grid and date it as Developing. Once all of the matters are highlighted on each age group, you mark it as secure. Hope that makes sense.
They havnt managed to do PD, CLL, or PSED individual progress trackers but they are easy to copy.

    Hope this helps xx

They look interesting Kate thank you for sharing.

The only problem I can see is that people might be tempted to use them as print and use one age group at a time.

We need to remember that children's abilities vary widely across different ages and stages and more than one age and stage might be used at the same time.

I must be looking in the wrong place because I can't see/find them.
But I was under the impression that a 'ticklist' isn't desirable from an Ofsted POV.... (mind you that hasn't seem to stop a local nursery proudly giving these to parents)

Hi Sarah, I think on the EYFS grid you just highlight what level the children are at. So if they have three points on the 30 - 50 months and 2 points on the 40 - 60+ months you highlight all the development matters applicable and overlap on the tracker. Thats what I have done anyway.

Hi Pipsqueak, I had my Ofsted inspection 2 weeks ago and she told me I needed to do trackers, so I could see where the children are up to. Which is why am doing them and I must admit, they do highlight the gaps. I argued with her that I know exactly where my children are up to and I woud be doing trackers for Ofsteds benefit, who only come once every 3 years. But she told me they are good for parents to see aswell, if they want to encourage the child at home. I have filled them in and put them in the learning journals.
Next tinme they come there will be something else!!!

It's the first I have heard of trackers, I just use the development grids and mark my observations on that. This website is a great resource, there are lots of other useful things on there.

    Thanks for sharing!

I must admit, I hadn't looked at the step ones
I am on about the development matters grids, and individual progress tracker.
But there are a lot of other things on there too.
The grids are simply the EYFS on an A4 sheet, and the tracker is a blank sheet of paper which you date to say which age bracket the children are up to. I have filled them out for my kids and have found them very useful. I have found it so much easier to see the EYFS as a flat piece of paper rather than flicking from one sheet to another all the time. I have also found a few development matters which I am unsure whether the child is up to that stage or not, so it has been excellent for planning. Wish I had found them 2 weeks before Ofsted rather than 2 weeks after!

thank you for sharing these, please can I ask do childminders have to be accredited to be involved with the funding for 2 year olds in your area? Its a sore point for me at the moment because our area is thinking of introducing it but not to childminders unless they are accredited, as otherwise they don't offer a quality service

To watgem, all childminders that have received good or outstanding have been invited to training for FEYE for 2 year olds, they don't have to be accredited. But I am currently doing the accreditation for FEYE for 3 year olds. Apparently they may be bringing it in for all 2 year olds in 2013. Atm its just targeted groups, that have to be reffered by social workers.
