Peer observations on another childminder
Has anyone ever done peer observations for another childminder?
I've been asked to complete one for a childminding friend following an activity session we did last week and wondered if anyone had a template they used, or has any advice on what to note down?
I was planning on discussing her strengths and simply noting any areas for development.
Thoughts?!
Thank you all

I've never done an observation on a childminder (I would love to) but I have done lots of observations on early years staff at school (and had many done on me).
Agree a time when the observation starts and ends.
Start with a positive, end with a positive.
Sandwich an 'even better if/area for development' in between.
When discussing areas for development, I was told to avoid using the words "If it was me...I would have done...". I have heard those phrases used on me, and I do actually find them quite irritating and arrogant.
You may or may not want to agree on a focus for the observation, for example, questioning techniques, or how the cm encourages independence, use of language/vocab etc etc or you might just want to do an open ended observation and see what comes up.
Good luck and enjoy!

Brave of you to agree to do it, and brave of the childminder to ask.
Hope it all goes well. I liked Maza s suggestions.
