Default What would you do with this?

I am quite new to childminding and, until reciently have only minded 2 over 8's. I have a girl in reception year (she is 4, % in july so one of the youngest in the year) She has a good volcab of words and can say how she feels etc but can not say the c and k sounds, she says T for them instead. On the way too school we were talking about the letters and numbers in car number plates and she told me that their car has a name in the number plate and it was Taz ( taz is the name of their dog to confuse matters) i was saying "thats nice" etc when the gilr got upset and started crying saying "no not taz... taz" ithen realised she was meaning to sat Kaz (her mums name) once i had the right word E*** stopped crying but was still upset and said I2 ireally need to learn to say kuh (c and k's) my little sister cn say them really well, I can't.
I have made notes and intend on puttin this as an obs n c+l under talking but as m still new to this obs thing i would love any advice from people who know what they are doing lol.
    Thanks Jennie

Have you spoken to the mum about it - does the child need a little bit of speech therapy support on these sounds. Do you have permission to talk with the teacher of her class. If she has noticed too then perhaps she will also suggest speech to mum.

My ds2 had to go for some help with the sound ch - was only a couple of weeks and it was sorted

If it is upsetting child and mum is willing I'd suggest a drop-in at Speech and Language, we have a drop-in at Family Centre... even if it just puts everyone's mind at rest that it is age appropriate. I have had SaLT advise for both my boys and both times they have said difficulty they had is 'age appropriate' until around 6yrs, they grew out of it. SaLT may be able to give advise on how to support communication skills.
