    Default Another linking to EYFS

    13 month old can climb (crawl) up 3 steps independently.

    I can't find anything Is it ok just to link it to the CoEL?

    It will link to physical development - moving.

    don't forget you are not looking for a statement which says 'child crawls up 3 steps'... you are looking for 'best fit'.

    I use the characteristics alongside my obs as a separate document.

    I do obs, assessments and next steps planning all the time, ongoing week by week.

    I then have a CoL document which I intend to use over about a 3 month period and keep referring back to, noting the child's characteristics as I go along.

    The thing with the characteristics is that they are not outcomes - a child does not achieve a characteristic like he does when he climbs the stairs.

    The characteristics are more about the child's personality, willingness to try things, interests and learning styles...

    Does that make sense?
