Default Should observation sheets cover just the prime areas?

    Hi everyone,

I am updating all my paperwork ready for next week and a little unsure whether I should record all seven areas or just the three prime areas for under 3's?

    What is everyone else doing?

    Thanks
    Carol

No, you still put in things that cover the other area's..

I had a two year old yesterday that brought me over a piece of playfood and said, 'what is dis?', I told him it was corn on the cob, sweetcorn, he replied, Ooo yum yum yum'. a few mins later he came over again with another one and said, 'look 2, 1,2' and he showed me on his fingers... this happened again with a third. .. So if I just concentrated on the prime area's I wouldn't have much of an observation, and I wouldn't have this lovely little boy's development recorded correctly

As Karen says it's impossible to shoehorn a child's experiences into 3 areas of learning... they do so much more.

For the little ones, the focus is on the prime areas until they are established but you will always sing, dance, read books etc etc.

    Hi I am aforum friend
I think that observations will link both the prime and specific areas at time. You cannot pigeon hole them into two separate areas when observing.
