Safer Food, Better Business

I spent yesterday evening at a food hygeine course It was interesting but far away and all the other CMs knew each other so I was a bit of a loner......

Anyway, we're meant to have this pack http://www.food.gov.uk/foodindustry/...bchildminders/ I didn't know that, so thought I'd share the link just in case others didn't know either

I saw mention of this on the forum a few days ago.

I phoned them this morning and a really nice helpful lady said the pack would be with me in 5-7 days

I got that "Safer Foods, Better Business for Childminders" from the Food Standard Agency. It's really helpful and provides most of the information found on a typical Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 course, so makes a good revision tool for anyone particularly nervous about that exam. The pack also includes some health and safety checklists for your kitchen and procedures and makes a nice addition to your Setting Safety folder to show Ofsted.
I got my Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 through the link on this website, the same one that Pauline, the administrator of this site, did. It was well worth paying £29.99 to do it at home in the comfort of my lounge instead of having to sacrifice a day in a classroom and the certifcate came through the post VERY quickly. Hope this info is useful! =)

Is anyone have any idea if we will get one in every year?

When I contacted my local authority to tell them I was providing food as a CM they contacted the Food Standards Agency on my behalf and I recevied the file soon after.
