Default Information and advice about setting up as a childminder

    Hi guys,

I'm looking into starting up as a childminder. i have a Level 3 Qualification, with all relevant certificates as i have worked in private nurseries for 13 years.
However, i am now interested in setting up as a childminder. i have googled things to do etc and I'm going to call my local authority for some information, but thought i would also ask you lovely lot about any helpful information, or any advice you have.

i would be so grateful for any information
    Thanks in advance

    Sam

There are lots of old threads here about setting-up so have a good search about and a read of those.
LA is the best place to start, find out about their training courses and if they do a free intro session about becoming a CMer.
Good luck and come along with any questions here!

Welcome and do ask us anything!
It's all changed since I registered (14+ yrs ago), but I'm happy to offer support and advice.

Talk to your local authority about setting up, and maybe see if there are any local childminders you can meet up with and find out what the demand for childminders is like where you are, and to also find a local support network.

    Good luck xx

Ofsted have said that if you know how to use the EYFS and can manage the pre-inspection visit then an 'introduction to home based childcare' course might not be needed.

However, it is valuable for learning about self-employment and business planning so you might consider doing it.

There are a number of providers of the course ... wishing you every success!
