I all, lo has just arrived and I think I've royally peeved off Mam. She came 3 hours early on one day last week, Mam asked in a text, and today she is doing an extra 2 hours. Mam was going to keep her off tomorrow as dads birthday. She asked if the extra hours would cover tomorrow so she doesn't pay for the hours she wasn't going to use tomorrow, if that makes sense. I've swapped days in the past when I've had notice, however, I've explained that I can't fill the space tomorrow at such short notice so I can't transfer the hours and will charge for extra + the full day tomorrow. Now I feel like a wicked witch! She's said Lo might come tomorrow after all which is fine. Was I in the wrong to charge for the full day tomorrow?

No you are not in the wrong at all.
I charge for extra hours. Contracted hours are not transferable. This is clearly stated in my contract, so IF I had agreed to extra hours the parent would pay for them along with their original contracted hours whether or not they were used.

Thanks Alice. I've swapped them in the past but only if they've given me enough notice and is not detrimental to my days. I'm trying to save the pennies as we are taking the kids to Disney land in July. I could have used tomorrow for a brother and sister I have during the holidays, I had to turn them down for tomorrow. I can totally understand that yes, I will still be earning the same amount however, I could have earned more with an extra child.
